Project Details
Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK has broken ground on the £300M North Kyle Wind Farm, an onshore facility in East Ayrshire, Scotland.
The wind farm will host 49 turbines that will have a generating capacity of 220.5MW, enough to power over 160,000 households.
The project is being led by Brockwell Energy, which first devised the plan in 2016. It is expected that the project will provide £65M in community benefits over 40 years.
Jones Bros completed the enabling works for the wind farm in May. This included the construction of SP Energy Networks’ substation platform and the construction compound.
The contractor’s remit for the job includes constructing reinforced concrete foundations, excavating and backfilling for cabling, creating 24km of new access tracks and upgrading 20km of existing tracks to allow for turbine and transformer delivery
